The Biology of Belief

How Your Thoughts Rewrite Your DNA

Revolutionary research is showing us something profound—your mind isn’t just reacting to life; it’s shaping the very biology of who you are.

Dr. Bruce Lipton’s groundbreaking work at Stanford turned traditional biology on its head. His studies on cell membranes revealed that environmental signals—not the genes themselves—control cellular behaviour. And here’s the game-changer: one of the most powerful environmental signals comes from your own thoughts and beliefs.

When we shift our perception from fear to love, we literally activate different genetic programmes. Fear constricts—clouding judgement, narrowing options, and dampening growth. Love expands—opening us to trust, connection, creativity, and collaboration.

The work of Hawkins in his book, Power vs Force, helps us understand this further. Power he suggests, is driven by ego, manipulation and control whilst true power comes from a place of truth, integrity and authenticity aligning with higher consciousness. He teaches that by understanding and shifting to a higher level of consciousness, one can transcend fear and conflict, fostering healing, growth, and lasting solutions in life. Hawkins suggests that this shift from force to true power can transform relationships, communities and personal lives by promoting empathy, inner strength, and a deeper connection to universal truth, rather than the need for external validation or control.

So what does colour have to do with this?

The language of colour teaches us that we are all connected, one body of intelligence operating in radical ways and affecting one another moment to moment by our intentions.

Each emotional state radiates its own colour frequency which affects us psychologically and physiologically. We have universal expressions in our language vocabulary like “red rag to a bull” and “green with envy” inferring that the colour red can often activate anger and dominance, and implied within green’s meaning, is the emotion of jealousy of others because we have not taken the time to love and care for ourselves enough. These aren’t just abstract ideas; they’re unique energetic signatures—consciousness expressing itself. Fear tends toward heavy, muted tones that can weigh us down, while love carries lighter, vibrant hues that energise and uplift.

These colour frequencies are more than feelings—they are golden threads of evolutionary information, guiding cellular behaviour and influencing genetic expression. Blue light reduces cortisol instantly calming us, green light activates our parasympathetic nerve which helps us to relax whilst red light improves blood circulation and cell renewal. This is one of the reasons that infrared saunas are so good for pain relief and healing.

The implications are staggering we are not victims of heredity. We are active participants—masters—of our genetic destiny through conscious colour frequency management. And understanding that, we must become more conscious of what we intend and want to create in life.

Gregg Braden's "I AM" exercise is a powerful technique for personal evolution that focuses on achieving heart-brain coherence. It is based on the idea that by consciously shifting your focus and feelings, you can influence your biology, intuition, and reality. By creating this inner harmony, the exercise helps you evolve by empowering you to manage stress, enhance your intuition, and intentionally shape your life.

I Am Exercise

Notice what happens when you look at everything and everyone and you say “I am that. I am”. I am that person I am judging; I am that ugly horrible thing…..but also I am that beautiful flower and I am that amazing person and I am that sunrise.

For a whole day, as you go about your day-say to yourself “I am THAT I am”. Feel into it and see what happens. What does it bring up for you? Where do you resist? What can you not claim as part of the Divine?

What happens when you look at the world through this perspective?  I am that person who I am judging; I am that ugly or horrible thing.......but also I am that beautiful flower that I see and I am that amazing person.

This is a great opportunity to see where your judgements are (of yourself and others) and to release them

If every thought is a brushstroke, then the question is: 🎨 What colours are you painting your biology with today?
